The Danziger Bridge, when completed in 1988,
was the widest lift bridge in the world. It was named for Metairie attorney Alfred D. Danziger (below, right in 1936) who
was Huey P. Long's personal lawyer and executive council to Mayor Robert Maistri. Danziger also acquired massive land holdings
including the area near the bridge. (LDL)
