 This 1936 photograph includes
a scale model of a section of the land reclamation project for the New Orleans lakeshore. This housing development would be
built on what was formerly the lake. (Courtesy New Orleans Public Library.)  By 1937 the New Orleans
lakeshore had been coined the "Great White Way" and was said to have one of the finest lighting systems in the South.
