Crescent Drive-In

Metairie/CrescentDriveIn.jpg

The Crescent Drive-in Theater was named for the Crescent Airline Shopping Center whose complex included the land it occupied at 1761. The drive-in shared its marquee in this 1956 photograph (above) with Maison Blanche Department Store. The building below sat close to the highway, in the 1700 block, in front of the Crescent Airline Shopping Center. It included a McKenzie’s Pastry Shoppe, Toy Land, J.D. Smith Construction Company, and a Brunswick bowling supply outlet. The drive-in’s sign (far right) has the 1950 movie, Spyhunt, starring Howard Duff and Märta Torén on the marquee.
