Jefferson Parish Seat Now in the Irish Channel

The first seat of Jefferson Parish government was in the City of Lafayette (now New Orleans). Pictured here is the 1836 Egyptian Revival style Jefferson Parish courthouse at 2219 Rousseau Street in the Irish Channel. The building is included in the National Register of Historical Places.
