Causeway Bridge & the Blvd. Plans - 1954

The firm of Palmer and Baker designed the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway and Causeway Boulevard. Both are shown in the proposed views which also appeared in the Jefferson Parish Yearly Review. What would be named Causeway Boulevard was, at that time, still Harlem Avenue. The caption to the images reads, in part, “…the bridge over Lake Pontchartrain will be wide enough to proceed in the event of a breakdown on either of the two vehicular lanes”.
